Where we get public data
We gather public data from DataBC open_in_new, Natural Resources Canada open_in_new and Environment Canada open_in_new. This data includes things like:
- Year the home was built
- Size of the home
- Region the home is in
We use this data to develop an estimated energy efficiency score for each home.
Data privacy
You can improve the accuracy of your home’s energy score by providing additional data in the tool.
Your personal information is collected under section 26(c) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act for the purposes of using the BC Home Energy Planner. The Planner is administered by the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation.
